FOUNDER
Melissa Lomax, PE, SI
Since 2007, I have been providing engineering design & consulting services to beachside clients and beyond. Beachside Engineering was launched in 2021 so that I could take a more hands-on approach with each client. From strategic project planning to innovative solutions, my focus is always on designing around the client’s needs. Are you building a new structure or extensively remodeling an existing one? We live in a very corrosive environment! Our experience designing repairs for corroded structures leads to a bevy of knowledge of how to prevent it in the first place. Please contact us for consulting services for successfully mitigating and reducing future corrosion on your project.

Damage/Settlement Evaluation
Many of the beachside aging structures are presenting indications of settlement or disrepair. Contact us to determine whether settlement has affected your structure, if there is structural damage and if repairs are necessary. Each structure is unique and will be priced on a case-by-case basis. Please email any existing inspection reports and photographs when requesting a proposal and appointment.

Melissa Lomax, PE, SI
Melissa Lomax, PE, SI is a licensed Professional Engineer and Special Inspector (ltd) in the state of Florida with over 20 years of experience. Her background encompasses performing structural condition and damage assessments, structural cost estimating, milestone inspections, structural repair design, project bidding and construction engineering & inspections on concrete restoration projects, mostly driven by corrosion damage. Ms. Lomax has written hundreds of technical reports and presented findings to building owners and operators. She has managed dozens of multi-million dollar restoration projects throughout Florida. She has also designed many residential and marine structures to provide elevated corrosion control and elevated compliance to high wind environments. Ms. Lomax is certified by the Association for Materials Protection & Performance (AMPP, formerly National Association of Corrosion Engineers) as a Corrosion Technician and a Cathodic Protection Tester. She holds additional training and/or memberships with: International Concrete Repair Institute, American Concrete Institute, American Society of Civil Engineers, International Code Council, etc. She also attended specialty expert witness training from SEAK which allows her to successfully translate her training into the courtroom.
